Protocol 01
Hydrogen-Infused Drinking Water
The bubbling stone infuses tap or filtered water directly with hydrogen gas. This is the lowest-friction protocol — fill, bubble, drink — and it's also used for plants, hydroponics/aquaponics, and pet water.
Water-based delivery relies on GI absorption. Because hydrogen is a small, fast-diffusing molecule, hydrogen-rich water is the most-studied delivery method in the molecular hydrogen research MHI catalogs.

Read this before you inhale anything from any electrolyzer. The Molecular Hydrogen Institute notes that water-electrolysis devices are generally not appropriate for inhalation unless specifically engineered with dilution and ventilation controls — undiluted output can enter a flammable concentration range. Protocol 02
Direct Inhalation via Nasal Cannula
Eagle-Research's stated target is roughly 2% hydrogen concentration in inhaled air, delivered via nasal cannula. This is a systemic delivery route via the lungs, rather than GI absorption.
The AC50's safety stack for this protocol specifically includes the humidifier/scrubber stage (removes residual NaOH mist before it reaches you) and the pressure-limiting system. This is the protocol where the engineering matters most — treat manufacturer settings as a ceiling, not a suggestion.
Protocol 03
Topical Application & Bath Soaking
The micro-bubbler accessory infuses bathwater with hydrogen for full-body soaking, while the silicone spot applicator allows targeted topical use on smaller areas — skin, minor wounds, localized soreness.
Protocol 04
Limb Bagging
Using the 7ft accessory hose and a sealed bag, gas is delivered directly around a limb — commonly referenced for localized joint discomfort, wounds, and carpal tunnel—related use. This is the most niche of the six protocols and the one with the thinnest independent evidence base; treat it as experimental.
None of these protocols are described by Eagle-Research or MHI as treating, curing, or diagnosing any condition. Consult a healthcare provider before using any protocol for a specific medical concern.
Protocol 05 & 06 — In Development
Deuterium-Depleted Water & "New Water"
Eagle-Research lists deuterium-depleted water production (claimed 5–50 ppm) as an in-development feature, and references a future "New Water" frequency-treated condensate feature without public specifics yet. We're not covering these as current capabilities — check the official product page for the latest status before factoring either into a purchase decision.
